La Roussière is a unique place. Set in summer pastures, amid lush green forests and snowy hills, it's a haven of peace crafted from an old mountain farmhouse. Set at 1019 metres, its rural setting takes you far off the beaten track.

It lies at the foot of the Plomb du Cantal, what better place to blend in with nature.

This old farmhouse dates back to 1834 and lay abandoned for forty years until the film crew of 'Harry, he's here to help' chose it as their setting. We have since totally restored it and we hope that the atmosphere retains some of its unique quality and that you will appreciate its comfortable, contemporary design.

This traditional house has a contemporary feel to it and has been restored in the Carladès style using local stone with whitewashed walls, flagstone roofing, wood-facing on the walls (with extra insulation), stone flooring, solid oak floorboards...

As our guests, we want you to feel at home. Whether it's by the fireside in the lounge or in the vaulted small lounge, where the chapel once stood, now used as a TV room.

Mealtimes are an opportunity to gather around the big dining table in the kitchen/dining room just like people used to. Refreshments are available when you return from your walks or outings.

We offer only 3 bedrooms in order to provide the best possible service. They all have spectacular views over the Goul valley and the neighbouring hills.
A selection of coffee-table books, guide books and magazines on the region are available to browse in the lounge.

As soon we receive your payment, we will send you a voucher together with documentation about our house and activities around.

Stays in family or with friends at La Roussière

You can privatise La Roussière and become privileged guests for the time of a stay between friends or with your family. In that case you will become the only guests of our house.

We will help you to organise your activities during your stay: suggestions of visits, excursions, walking tours (loan of itineraries and maps), snow-shoes rental in winter. On request hikes with Christian (accredited mountain leader AMM).

If you wish, we concoct with you a particular menu to celebrate a special occasion (birthday, new-year's eve…).
